Tulsi Bloom, a Grammy nominee, creates soul-stirring music that transcends genres, resonating deeply with listeners worldwide

Tabitha Alexis Carpenter, professionally known as Tulsi Bloom (FKA: Tulsi Devi) is an American (Jamaican/Puerto-Rican) singer-songwriter, violinist, composer, and producer. She is an artist who combines elements of jazz, soul, classical, funk, alternative, reggae, EDM and hip hop and more into her work. Tulsi creates her own rendition of traditional Sanskrit bhajans/sonnets and also embeds sanskrit mantra chants within some of her english songs as well.

Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Northern VA/Washington, DC, Tulsi took up violin, flute and choir singing, at age eight. By age fourteen, Tulsi expressed a keen interest in spirituality, which lead to an immersive study of metaphysics and philosophy. Tulsi learned sanskrit diacritics, mantra recitations, sonnets and meditations. During this time, Tulsi regularly attended Interfaith programs in Washington D.C., traveled to holy places in India and visited various places of worship including temples, churches and ashrams across America. In 2001, the artist received her spiritual name, Tulsi Devi Dasi; from her Guru, Srila BV Narayana Goswami Maharaj (a widely respected Vedic scholar and teacher of the path of love and devotion found in the ancient Bhakti texts of India). The name Tulsi Devi, refers to the presiding female deity of divine Mother Nature and devotion to God.

In 2003, while attending Northern VA Community College, Tulsi happened upon the jazz room mistaking it for the orchestra room and consequently never came out! It was here under the guidance of her jazz teacher (Herb Smith), that Tulsi truly realized herself as a singer. She began to play and sing jazz as well as many other genres of music for many years to come. From 2004-2006, Tulsi was the lead singer of her band “Temporary Fix” which broke up just as they were in the lead of a Battle of the Bands competition in Washington, DC. This unfortunate circumstance also not only left Tulsi without a band and unable to finish the competition but subsequently all her original recorded music was lost due to the break up.

In 2010, Tulsi hit the west coast. Feeling inspired and rejuvenated by the thriving conscious music and kirtan (call and response sanskrit mantra chanting) scene in West LA, Tulsi once again began to write, compose and produce. She has also recorded and performed with many artists of various genres such as Dave Stringer, Madi Das, Dj Drez, The Kirtaniyas, Sita Devi, Heroine December (Nandy and Maya McClean), The Other Deepak, Sheila Nichols,

Donna De Lory, CC White, Saul David Raye, Calisway, Joe Hawley, Rob Cantor, Wesley Flowers, Michael Hathaway, Srikala, Amit Singh, Jai Uttal and more!

She is featured on many albums such as Chanting With Tigers by Dj Drez (2013) which went #1 on iTunes for World Music; Bhakti Without Borders by Madi Das & Dave Stringer (2015), I love India by Amit Hari (2016), Awakening by Michael Hathaway (2017), Joe Hawley Joe Hawley by Joe Hawley (2020), the single, Already Here by Srikala (2020), Offering by Michael Hathaway (2022), Mantra Americana by Madi Das & Dave Stringer w/ BWB (2022). She also was one of the several lead singers for the former 501c3, Venice Symphony Orchestra led by Wesley Flowers (2014-2016).

Tulsi received her first Grammy nomination for her vocal and violin contributed feature on the album, Bhakti Without Borders, in 2015 (for the New Age category). She then received a second Grammy nomination in 2023 for her vocal contributions to the album, Mantra Americana (for the, first ever modified genre, New Age/Ambient/Chant category).

Tulsi released her first album Sunflower Child in 2017 and is diligently working on brand new original material as well as never before released projects from her many collaborations over the past 10 years. The masterfully thought out approach to the formulation of her sound has taken all the time and experience of her own life's journey to reach; eastern thought meets western music! Tulsi is dedicated to making music that is a breath of fresh air for the soul, and that empowers, rejuvenates and inspires all who hear it!
